Debbie Adamson is an accomplished and published author. She is perfecting her skills in photography and videography. She is passionate about human-interest feature stories. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Media/journalism from the Walla Walla University and is currently attending Full Sail University and will soon earn her master’s degree in new media journalism.
Adamson’s passion for storytelling led her to want to further her skills in photography and videography. Her newest passion is her daughter, Lilyan. She adopted Lilyan at the age of three. At that time her daughter was feral and was facing life in an institution because of her vicious and aggressive behavior. Lilyan was deemed unadoptable.
Adamson took a sabbatical from the workforce because Lilyan’s behavior was so aggressive. She was kicked out of every daycare. She was seen as a liability and harmful to other kids. Adamson spent the next two and half years coaching and retraining Lilyan, who has Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), ADHD, and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD). For those of you unfamiliar with these conditions, it is an explosive combination of severe behavioral disorders. Today, Lilyan is five and a half and doing great! She is very loving and calm. Adamson is home schooling her so she can still watch over the behavior issues and to give her more time to stabilize socially.
When faced with a challenge, Steve Jobs says it best, “When you first start off trying to solve a problem, the first solutions you come up with are very complex, and most people stop there. But if you keep going, and live with the problem and peel more layers of the onion off, you can often times arrive at some very elegant and simple solutions. Most people just don’t put in the time or energy to get there…” —Steve Jobs
